Moral policing be damned
What is wrong with us and why do we remain silent even when it is imperative to speak? Every year we hear comments from our so called leaders and political goons that western culture is influencing us, girls are becoming ‘forward’ in nature, why are people going to pubs, so on and so forth. We listen and we complain, but, have we ever spoken out loud how stupid we think they are, and how obnoxious they sound when they preach. What right do these people have and why should they enforce their opinions on others? If a guy wants to take his girlfriend out on Valentine’s Day, he should feel free to do so. The moral brigade shouldn’t make it their business to play spoilsport every year. We understand they have a problem with people having fun but what they fail to realise is we too have a problem with them being insane and unreasonable. The moral brigade fears change and they are making all efforts to suppress these new ideas till they go away. Do they really think that threats are a solution to their growing paranoia? Instead of being tolerant and peaceful, these groups resort to violent means to send their message across. They beat up young girls and boys, and they expect people to respect them for their deeds.
We still have a long way to go as the freedom we seek is still not a reality. Our society has changed tremendously over the years and girls are allowed to venture out of their homes and not hide behind purdahs. But, if these groups had their way we will all be going back to the past and fighting the same old battles again. We have advanced technologically; we all have internet and the ability to start a revolution sitting at home.
Education is the key here and we need to ensure all classes of society are educated and aware about their rights. Only when people are aware will these groups think twice before physically assaulting anyone. How will they feel if we beat the living daylights out of them and drag them by their hair, while parading them in public with their faces painted in black? Doesn’t paint a pretty picture, does it? But, isn’t this what they have been doing for decades now?
Take a stand and let them know we are not afraid to lead our lives the way we want to. If we stand united, no moral brigade will dare to touch another young girl ever again.
